Florida 2010 Legislative Session Second Amendment Issues PDF Print E-mail

RTKBA_dont_infringe

I received an email today from NRA Past President and USF Executive Director Marion P. Hammer. She included a list of the bills introduced to date for the upcoming 2010 Florida Legislative Session that will impact our Second Amendment Rights here in Florida. I thought I should pass those along and also introduce you to a tool for easily tracking the status of bills in the Florida Legislature.  If you are as busy (or as lazy) as I am, you may appreciate it.

On the website MyFloridaHouse.gov, you will find a menu selection entitled: ‘Legislative Tracking’. If you click on it, it will take you to the Florida House Of Representatives Legislative Tracking System. Once there, you can create an account (or sign in if you already have one). Once you create an account, you can track/subscribe to all legislative activity regarding a specific committee, a Statute, or a Bill. For bills (either House or Senate) enter only the number into the 'Subscribed Bills:' box and click ‘Add Bill’. Once you have added all of the bills you want to monitor, simply click ‘Save Changes’. Under ‘Account Settings’ you can choose how often (or not at all) you want to receive emails regarding actions/activities on the bill you chose. That’s it! You will now get emails listing the legislative status of the bills you chose.

One word of caution regarding the ‘Event Based’ setting. If you chose it, you will get notices only when significant event--for example, the bill passed out of committee--has occurred. It significantly reduces the number of emails you get, but it also notifies you after the event has already occurred. That often does not leave you enough time to take any action on the bill.

Hope this helps, as I know how hard it is at times to get information on what is happening in Tallahassee in a timely manner.
